Technology Detox (Tech-Flex #8)

This week I spent a lot of time with family for the Thanksgiving break and was able to take a much needed break from things like social media and other technological platforms. I was with all of my close family who matter so much to me so instead of spending so much time on my phone or laptop I sat down and had great conversations with family members I had not seen in a while and got to play plenty of board and card games. I enjoyed this technology detox so much as I did not feel the need to look at what others were doing for their break and experienced less "FOMO" (fear of missing out) than I usually would. I was able to really enjoy the moments I got with my family rather than always looking for the next thing. Overall this was a great experience and one I need to repeat more often.

As a teacher I think that tools like Qualtrics and other data collection survey tolls could be very helpful in my future classroom. I also really enjoyed being able to access everyone’s websites and seeing what everyone else did for the assignment. I also had a lot of fun looki

This semester I luckily was able to get most of my classes in person and this happens to be my only distance learning class. I appreciate that distance learning like this online class gives you the ability to do the work on your own time throughout the week. However, I am not a big fan of distance learning for the most part. I feel it is much harder for me to focus when I am not in the classroom as well as feel it is difficult when you cannot see your professors in person every week to get clarifications on certain things.        Open education resources (OER) are extremely valuable especially when it comes to teaching at school that may not have the money to access newer textbooks or physical materials. Allowing access to updated lesson plans and projects ideas allows for all students to remain on a more level playing field. One OER that I found especially helpful when I was in school was Khan Academy. This website has so many open resources to any lessons o
